Crossing

2006

Portal, a literary magazine, 2006

Cradled in mountainous nestles,
the injured grey sky pierced by perpetual greens,
my heels are forever in wet shores:
crabs weave between my toes
barnacled ankles ache
and I yearn to swim ‘cross, leave peaks behind
loose myself in burnt-cream wheat seas
where sways of gold and thick blue meet
on a horizon that stretches across sight.
